I'm getting this message when I try to Start Mount even though the folder is empty. Also, whenever I try to download a file I get the 403 error. I'm using Backblaze with rclone and everything was working fine until a crash this morning. I'm happy to post whatever technical info you need and I would rank user error highly likely as a a cause but I'm stuck as to what to try next.

Also, whenever I click on FUSE mount (recommended) I get this message: NFS mount isn't stable enough to be used reliably. In order to avoid issues with app freeze and potential data loss we've disabled it temporarily. Until then please use classic FUSE mount. Stay tuned for more updates ! With no explanation of what the "classic FUSE mount" is. (edited)

I got it to mount and show my files but I"m still getting the "Unknown 403" error whenever I try to access my files. It seems like an authentication issue? I would really appreciate some help since I've lost access to hundreds of files and I'm starting to feel like maybe this is too sensitive to be a solid long-term storage solution.

Hi! Thanks for your feedback. I assume you relate to macOS, is that right? What's your S3 provider? When you say that you're getting 403 error, does that apply to download through the file mount or through the S3Drive interface? 403 error indicate that there isn't read access available to the resource. I assume that it worked fine initially and then stopped at some point without any changes to key permission / IAM, etc.? For some providers it's returned when e.g. transfer quota was exceeded (e.g. Backblaze)
With no explanation of what the "classic FUSE mount" is.
Sorry for this vague message. We're still getting there with the mount reliability and user experience on macOS. Please find more info about the mount types on macOS: https://docs.s3drive.app/install/#macos_1 in our documentation.

•Yes, macOS •S3 Provider -Backblaze •I get the 403 when I try to download through the S3Drive Interface. When I try to open it from the mounted drive I get this: "The file "img20240806_04552689.pdf" could not be opened. It may be damaged or use a file format that Preview doesn't recognize." •It was working really well. I had opened lots of files from the mounted drive. I got an error and the mount shut down (I do not remember what the error was). There were no changes to permissions. I did rename some PDFs and got a warning to the effect of "older versions of files can't be saved" so I renamed them. I had done that a few times with no problems and it might not having anything to do with anything but it was right after one of those warnings that I got the error and the mount disconnected. •Thank you for the mount info. I did not mean for my question to sound curt, I understand why you can't account for every user scenario, I could have phrased it better.

Thanks for info. Do you use free B2 Backblaze account or a paid one? Free one has imited quota of 10GB download a day. Mount can be data hungry, as if you open a folder, macOS will likely try to fetch some files in order to understand their format, create thumbnails etc. I am not sure if that's the case on your end, but would be good to rule this out. Backblaze says that quota resets at 12AM GMT each day: https://www.backblaze.com/docs/cloud-storage-data-caps-and-alerts which implies that 20 minutes after you've posted your message it may well started to work again.
Read details about viewing and setting alerts and managing data caps. Data caps are are unlimited and unlimited charges can be accrued.

Thank you! I was trying to find a definitive answer to free vs paid but I'm still not sure. I'm on the Pay-As-You-Go plan, which, as far as I can tell, is the only one that isn't the very expensive corporate solution. I'm happy to be corrected about that and am still looking but did not want to delay an answer any longer. That said, I think you are correct. It's working again now. I'm going to keep investigating and will add an answer here if I'm able to confirm that the problem is fixed.
